Today, remaining crews will complete the final search for any undetected hot spots within the pre-identified objectives (300 feet around the fire perimeter and within 500 feet of structures). They will finish the rehabilitation of all suppression-related damage, including repairing fences that were damaged by the actions taken to suppress the fire, and create waterbars on all sections of fire line where future precipitation could cause erosion. After those objectives are complete, all equipment used on the fireline will be returned to the Incident Command Post at the Okanogan County Fairgrounds. Before leaving the area, crews will pick up any items that were not there when they arrived. For any future information specific to the Green Lake Fire, questions should be directed to DNR's Northeast Region office: 509-684-7474. If there appears to be an emergency related to fire activity, citizens should..."

"Tuesday August 5 Daily Update (Green Lake Wildland Fire)"

"YESTERDAY'S FIRE ACTIVITY: Some smoke was visible for a few hours from Omak and Okanogan on Monday as minor burnout operations and natural consumption occurred on small islands of previously unburned fuel in the interior of the fire. No heat was found again along the north perimeter of the fire. Only a few hot spots were detected on the west side of the fire; at the end of shift fire supervisors estimated they had completed 95% of the mop-up objective along that edge. Crews working along the Green Lake road were praised for their safe work practices.Near the houses at the northeast side, crews also feel they have met 95% of their objective to put out all hot spots within 500 feet of structures. A skidgeon (an engine on tracks), was effectively used to deliver water to crews mopping up on the east side of the fire. Reduced risk of nighttime fire activity has allowed the scaling back of night shift to only patrol status. Fire personnel have been asked to leave the fire in a..."

"Monday August 4, 2008 8:00 AM Update (Green Lake Wildland Fire)"

"YESTERDAY'S ACTIONS: Firefighters had another safe and effective operation during both day and night shifts on Sunday. On the north end of the fire, crews accomplished the objective of extinguishing all hot spots within 300 feet of the perimeter. Along the west side of the fire, hot spots have been extinguished within 500 feet of structures, and crews are making progress toward ensuring the outer 300 feet of the fire perimeter is cold as well. The eastern perimeter is the most challenging area of the fire because of steep terrain, poor access for water supplies, and abundant snag hazards. Progress on that side is slower, yet steady. Hand-held heat detectors were used in the late evening to ensure that hot spots near the northeast side of the fire are identified and fully extinguished. Some resources from night shift only worked until midnight, so they could move to day shift. The Fire Prevention Team conducted planning and reconnaissance and began engaging local homeowners,..."

"Sunday August 3 Daily Update (Green Lake Wildland Fire)"

"YESTERDAY'S ACTIONS: Fireline personnel made excellent progress around the perimeter of the fire on Saturday. Firelines were completed and crews and engines worked in from those lines, extinguishing hot spots. An island of previously unburned vegetation within the fire burned actively. On the southeast edge of the fire, crews found and contained an area of approximately 4 acres that had burned past the line on the previous day, and used a helicopter to drop water as they worked to secure that area. By the end of the day, the only significant smokes seen from the air were in the interior of the fire.Firefighters working near the Green Lake Road continue to build on the excellent work done by initial attack forces to protect the homes and structures there. Over a dozen homes that had been in immediate danger were protected, and are still standing. TODAY'S PLANNED ACTIONS: Firefighters will concentrate on strengthening existing fire lines, ensuring that material within 300 feet..."

"Initial Update Saturday August 2, 2008 (Green Lake Wildland Fire)"

"The Green Lake Fire began at approximately 5:30pm on Thursday, July 31 near the intersection of Salmon Creek Rd. and Green Lake Rd., approximately 6 miles northwest of Okanogan, WA. The cause is under investigation at this time. The fire was wind-driven by gusts up to 25mph and remained active throughout the night and on Friday, August 1, moving primarily to the north and to the east. Aerial reconnaissance conducted late-morning on August 1 determined the fire to be approximately 1,000 acres at that time; it grew to over 2000 acres by the end of the day. Air resources dropped water and retardant throughout the day on August 1.Residents on the 410 Road, off the north end of the Green Lake Road are now allowed back into their homes. The Level 3 evacuation notice that went into effect the evening of July 31 was reduced to an alert this morning. Residents on Green Lake Road and Conconully Road are advised to be aware of the fire situation in the area (a Level 1 notification), and should..."

"Evacuation Lifted for 410 Road Residents (Green Lake Wildland Fire)"

"Residents on the 410 Road, off the north end of the Green Lake Road are now allowed back into their homes.
