It is burning along Ettien Ridge, approximately 27 miles southwest of Stanford, MT. The fire is 743 acres and 90 percent contained, as of Saturday evening. One 20-person handcrew, supported by several engines, will continue to mop up the hot spots, until fully contained. Afternoon scattered showers and thunderstorms continue to help the fire suppression efforts.Closure of the South Fork Judith River Road (Forest Road 487) and a Special Closure Order around fire area will remain in effect through today. Warmer temperatures on Thursday allowed firefighters to find additional spot fires that have been smoldering for the last few days. Some spots are up to 1/2 mile away from the fire perimeter. The fire, which started by lightning on August 2, is mapped at 639 acres. Good progress has been made towards containing the fire. On Wednesday, crews used fireline explosives to build over a mile of fireline through steep, rugged terrain. The estimated date of containment is August 10th.
