Summary

Management of the Deep Draw fire will transfer from McNitt's Northern Rockies Type Two back to a Confederated Salish Kootenai Tribal Type Three team at 6:00 Monday August 18.
The map shows the boundaries of the fire, which resembles a side view of half a grapefruit. It also shows the boundaries of the much smaller Deep Draw II Fire that is fully contained.

On August 17 the Deep Draw Fire was 90-percent contained.

Minimal fire behavior observed on Sunday. Largely smoldering and creeping, Occasionally burning pockets of trees inside the fireline.

Significant Events

Crews continued to make good progress containing and mopping up hot spots inside the fireline. Palm IR's, or handheld infrared heat sensors, were used to help identify the areas with heat. .

Crews continue to patrol and mop up hot spots. Contingency lines will be rehabilitated as necessary.
