Summary

The Silver Creek Fire is a lightning-caused fire that started on August 17 at 4:30.m. It is burning in sagebrush and timber on the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest, adjacent to the Marine Corps. Mountain Warfare Training Center (MWTC) near Sonora Pass (CA State Route 108).

No structures are currently threatened. CA State Route 108 was closed early on in the incident, but it has been reopened with controls in place from CA State Route 108/U.S. Highway 395 at Sonora Junction on the east to CA State Route 108 at Kennedy Meadows on the west side of Sonora Pass.

Voluntary evacuation of the Marine Corps. Mountain Warfare Training Center (MWTC) and local hunters and recreationists took place on the evening of 8/17/2008.
