Peters Ridge Wildland Fire Used for Resource Benefit

INCIDENT UPDATED 8/26/2008

This incident is 100% contained.

Approximate Location

37.812 latitude, -79.933 longitude

Summary

This will be the last update unless there is significant change in the predicted weather or fire behavior. Rain received Monday evening and predicted for Tuesday through Thursday should prevent further spread of the fire.

Special Notes: Skyline Road (Forest Service Road 125D) is closed to the public. The terrain, landownership pattern, and vegetation all present challenges in designing a strategy for containment of this fire. Area residents are requested to avoid travel on Dolly Ann Road (FSR 125) on national forest lands for safety reasons. As the fire continues to burn, smoke may settle in Covington. At this time, the fire does not threaten any private land.

Firefighter and Public Safety remain our First Priority.
