Summary

The Wild Rivers Complex currently consists of three fires: East Fork, Whiskers and Horse Mountain. All three fires are contained.

The Horse Mountain Fire is approximately 17 miles southwest of Grants Pass, OR. This fire is east of the Illinois River and slightly east of the 2002 Biscuit Fire.

Fuels Involved

10 Timber (litter and understory.) Fuel models 6,9 and 10 are prevalent throughout fire area. Old growth and second growth forest with brush, grass, duff, leaf litter and timber slash. Some areas have heavy dead and down fuel load.

Fire Behavior

Isolated smoldering in interior.

Significant Events

Mop-up operations continue. Rehab progressed well. Demobing 1 crew and some equipment tonight, more demob expected tomorrow. There is a Red Flag warning for the fire area from tonight through Friday morning (for gusty winds and low relative humidity).

Outlook

Planned Actions

Mop-up, rehab and monitor all divisions. Pull hose lays and remaining pupkins/fold-a-tanks. Estimated cost in the WFSA has been updated. Block 37 has been updated to reflect the new cost estimate.
