Approximate Location
35.923 latitude, -83.067 longitudeSummary
The Old 15th Fire is three miles southeast of Del Rio, Tennessee along Old Fifteenth Road. The fire was the result of lightning, originating on private land and burning onto the Cherokee National Forest. The fire is burning in steep, rocky terrain near a ridge with large patches of Southern Pine Beetle killed timber. Rain has eliminated active burning. However, with the drought conditions in the State, dry and windy conditions could cause a smoldering fire to start burning actively again.
