Summary

The Jordan Fire seven miles northwest of Meeker, Colorado, was ignited by lightning Aug. 25 and grew to 971 acres by Aug. 31. It is located in the rugged Windy Gulch Wilderness Study Area. Rain Aug. 31 effectively stopped the spread of this fire.

The Southwest Interagency Fire Use Management Team returned management of the fire to the local White River Field Office Aug. 31.

The fire burned in a remote, difficult-to-access reach of BLM land. Hunters and others using this area should be aware that this fire is not out.
